Your First Visit With A Chiropractor
We commence with a detailed assessment of the patient’s health. We will not only ask for information about your current condition, but also about your past medical history and overall health. Once this has been discussed with you, we will then perform a physical examination. This consists of a range of tests including assessments of your posture, range of movement and nerve function.
Patients are provided with gowns to wear for both examinations and treatments. Once the physical assessment is complete, we will discuss if you require any further investigations such as an X-ray, MRI scan or a blood test.
Our chiropractors will then explain to you their findings and whether they feel that your condition can be helped by chiropractic treatment or not. If treatment is appropriate, you will be given a care plan which will include an estimate of how much treatment you may need, over what period of time it should take, the expected benefits of treatment and any risks that may be involved. Our treatment fees and the treatment options that are available to you will also be explained at this time.
Will The Treatment Hurt?
Chiropractic is safe and effective. As with any form of treatment or exercise that affect the muscles and joints there can sometimes be minor short-term pain or discomfort. The potential for this reduces as you progress through treatment. Don’t worry if you hear a clicking or popping noise with the manipulation of your joints. This is perfectly normal with this form of treatment. If you feel worried about chiropractic treatment or have any questions please do not hesitate to talk to us. We are always happy to assist.

It is common to experience side effects from treatment, such as mild to moderate aches and pains, stiffness and tiredness but these side-effects are usually mild and generally pass in a few days. More serious side effects are very rare.
The initial appointment will take between fifty minutes to an hour and include the consultation, examination and your first treatment. Chiropractic is a world-wide profession and there is a great variety in the titles of qualifications. The important thing is that all chiropractors in the UK must be registered with the GCC. Some chiropractors have a special interest in certain conditions, for example pregnancy related issues. If there is a particular field that you are looking for please give us a call and we can outline our experience in that area.
